it remains unclear as to how maclean arrived to the castle, any record held regarding her arrival and assumed imprisonment unseen. the lady’s maiden remains one of few to have survived lived an amount of years in service to her, entrusted with the countess’s own business dealings and personal effects alongside seeing to the house’s staff; but delphine is lesser spared, still, their lady’s cruelty.
favoritism comes at a price — especially in haus dimitrescu wherein gore oft embellishes its marble and gold. the women staffed within the castle war with one another and delphine is no stranger to their sentencing; death, their lady, makes quick work of them and commands it, too, of her maiden. many speculate delphine has long lost her sense of mind, though few dare to speak of it lest they suffer, too, she and their lady’s hand.
she is, to her own knowledge, the only maiden to bear lady dimitrescu’s mark: the house crest seated upon her sternum, carved by alcina’s hand. it is never spoken of but often the source of her unforgiving pride and a reminder of her belonging — however frail a life she lives still.
